Secret menu: The Halal Guys has announced three new menu items and a secret menu, available this spring. Customers can now get a lamb and beef gyro, either in a pita bread or a bowl, which comes with lettuce, tomatoes, a yogurt sauce and hot sauce. Also available now are waffle fries and a berry mint beverage. Top of the Hyatt:On the 40th floor of the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego, a new spring pop-up bar has emerged. The Hidden Forty is a limited-time seasonal bar that has transformed the Top of the Hyatt into a speakeasy with new art decor, a cocktail menu and food options. Cocktails highlights include the Meet Your Matcha, with tequila blanco, sake, strawberry, lemon, saline, clarified milk and matcha, and the After School Special, which mixes peanut butter vodka, raspberry liqueur, rosé vermouth, raspberry vinegar, clarified milk and is served with a mini peanut butter and jelly sandwich. 4 to 11 p.m. tonight through May 25. 1 Market Place, San Diego. 619-232-1234, topofthehyatt.com
Wine Spectator’s Grand Tour:Attendees can taste over 200 wines as the Wine Spectator’s Grand Tour lands in Chula Vista for the first time this weekend. The one-day event, held at the Gaylord Pacific Resort & Convention Center, brings wineries from around the world for guests to sample, along with conversations with winemakers and food pairings. Panda Fest:Various Asian cuisines will be on display for consumption at Panda Fest. This traveling Asian food festival is debuting for the first time in San Diego and brings more than 80 vendors, creating over 200 dishes, from various countries, including Vietnam, Thailand, Korea, Japan and China. Noteworthy vendors from outside of San Diego at this two-day event are Tanghulua, serving up Chinese street food, and WobbleBake, making Japanese soufflé pancakes. Estancia’s Tea in the Garden Series:Every Sunday through mid-October, Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa is renovating its garden with a tea series. There will be six different themes in the series that will last about four weeks each. Each theme will bring various teas, food and decor. The themed lineups are: Petals & Pastels on Sunday, April 26; Bridgerton & Blooms High Tea on May 31; Solstice Garden Tea on June 28; Mediterranean Daydream on July 19; A Gilded Garden Tea on Aug. 23; Harvest & Herb Tea on Sept. 27; and A Curious Mad Hatter Tea Party on Oct. 18. “Graze” at the Fields: The San Diego County Farm Bureau has partnered with the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch for its sixth annual event that will celebrate San Diego County’s 4,000 farms, as well as the region’s winemakers, brewers and more. Local chefs will work with some of the more than 40 farms featured at the event to create fresh food items, and samples of more than 30 locally made cider, mead, beers and wine will be offered. Just 300 tickets will be sold. Ages 21 and up only. 6-8:30 p.m. Thursday. $75 (VIP ticket, with early entry at 5 p.m. is $95). Pure Project’s pale ale: Pure Project has launched a new beer that is connected to environmental stewardship. Rewild is the new West Coast pale ale, made with citra and centennial hops. A portion of sales will go toward supporting the international conservation organization WILDCOAST and its mangrove forest restoration efforts in Mexico. Rewild is the first beer to be added to the brewery’s core lineup since 2023, according to Pure Project. Rewild is now available on draft and in four-packs at all five Pure Project taprooms throughout San Diego County and at select retailers. purebrewing.org
