Travis Kelce has some very large shoes to fill.
Because Meryl Streep has issued a challenge—albeit an unintentional one—to the Kansas City Chiefs star during the press tour for The Devil Wears Prada 2.
During an April 25 promo clip talking about filming in Italy, Meryl teased, “The hardest thing about shooting in Milan was walking in stilettos on the cobblestones—I’d like to see Travis Kelce do that.”
So, naturally, upon learning of Meryl’s comment, Travis’ brother Jason Kelce seized the moment to poke fun at his brother.
“Travis,” the Philadelphia Eagles alum said during the April 29 episode of New Heights, “do we have beef with Meryl Streep?”
To which Travis, unaware of the Mamma Mia star’s comment, hedged with a nervous laugh, “I hope she doesn’t have beef with me. I’m a fan of Meryl Streep, I don’t have any beef with her.”
After the clip was played, Travis laughed in shock before he issued his own warning to the Academy Award winner.

However, after Jason explained that a stiletto—as opposed to the Chelsea boots Travis wears—features a small and pointy heel, Travis rethought his position. (Meaning, unfortunately, likely no stilettos for Travis at his upcoming wedding to Taylor Swift.)
“I'll give credit where credit's due,” the 36-year-old said. “I don't think I can do it, Meryl. I'll let you have that. I just don’t think I’m going to make it to Italy and walk in stilettos.”
As he put it, “Meryl has quite the resume.”

Indeed, she does, and The Devil Wears Prada 2—which sees Meryl reprise her role as the terrifying Miranda Priestly alongside Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci—is the most recent addition Meryl’s filmography, premiering 20 years after the first installment.
And the 76-year-old says it was worth the wait.
“The fans told us what this movie was,” Meryl told E! News on April 20. “We knew it was great and we thought it was fun. But a lot of great, fun movies don't move the way this did, on a trajectory to decades later.”
