The Minnesota Vikings made some polarizing decisions during the 2026 NFL Draft. Minnesota reached on a defensive tackle in the first round and sent Jonathan Greenard to Philadelphia for two draft picks. The Vikings just made one additional roster move official following the conclusion of the draft.

The Vikings announced on Monday that they have officially exercised the fifth-year option on Jordan Addison’s rookie contract.

This move should come as no big surprise to Vikings fans. Not only because of Addison’s importance to the team, but also because Minnesota said it would happen.

Vikings interim general manager Rob Brzezinski said back in March that the team would exercise Addison’s fifth-year option at some point.

“He’s a really important player for us, an impact player,” Brzezinski said. “We’re definitely exercising the option. For sure. The deadline for that is after the draft.”

The decision comes after Addison had a disappointing 2025 campaign. He had the worst season of his three-year career, only logging 42 receptions for 610 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

It was a rocky ride for Addison. He started the season with a three-game suspension follow a DUI arrest from 2024. Addison also suffered an Achilles injury in December that slowed him down a bit. That, paired with Minnesota’s inconsistent quarterback play, contributed to his down season.

Despite all of this, Minnesota did not add a wide receiver during the draft. That suggests that Addison may be an important part of the team’s future at the wide receiver position.

Hopefully Addison and the Vikings can have a bounce back season in 2026.
