Business leaders, cabinet secretaries, Supreme Court justices and Trump family members were among the guests assembled at the White House on Tuesday evening to attend a state dinner in honor of King Charles III and Queen Camilla, one of the most coveted invitations this year. The visit kicked off celebrations for America’s 250th birthday.
The royals were the guests of honor, capping a day that included a formal welcoming ceremony on the South Lawn of the White House and an address by Charles to a joint session of Congress—the first time this century that a British monarch has spoken to the body.
Guests, which also included Republican lawmakers and several Fox personalities, wore white tie and enjoyed a three-course meal that included ravioli with herbs from the White House garden and Dover sole. Dessert included a chocolate cake served with crème fraîche ice cream and White House honey.
