The Duke of Kent’s grandson makes a rare appearance at Apple’s BAFTA TV brunch

Cassius Taylor, a grandson of the Duke of Kent, made a rare public appearance at the Apple TV BAFTA Television Awards brunch on Saturday, ahead of the ceremony itself on Sunday at the Royal Festival Hall. Taylor, 29, is the second son of Lady Helen Taylor and Timothy Taylor.

Although not a working royal, Cassius maintains a more visible public profile than his siblings. He studied arts management at Goldsmiths University in London and co-founded the events consulting firm Telltale in 2022. He also works as a DJ under the handle “Noon Goon.”

Cassius was most recently seen with the extended royal family last fall and winter, first in September for the funeral of his grandmother, Katharine, Duchess of Kent. In December, he attended both the Princess of Wales’s Christmas Carol service at Westminster Abbey as well as King Charles’s annual Christmas luncheon at Buckingham Palace.

Comparative to the Primetime Emmy Awards, the BAFTA Television Awards honors the best British programs and performances of the year. Adolescence, the Netflix limited series created by Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne, dominated the evening, winning four awards including limited series, leading actor for Graham, supporting actor for Owen Cooper, and supporting actress for Christine Tremarco.

Apple TV also had a strong night. The Studio earned Apple its first international category win, prompting Apple to tout the series as “the most-awarded freshman comedy in history and the first comedy to sweep all major awards in a single season.” Seth Rogen, the show’s lead actor and co-creator, accepted the award, dedicating it to his late co-star, Catherine O'Hara. Apple had previously won two awards at the BAFTA Television Craft Awards last month, for writing in drama for Slow Horses and direction in factual programming for Vietnam: The War That Changed America.
