The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall of several flavors of Straus Family Creamery Organic Ice Cream due to the potential presence of foreign material, specifically metal fragments. The voluntary recall affects a small number of production runs of select flavors and sizes of Straus Family Creamery Organic Ice Cream, which can be identified by the "best by" date on packaging. The affected ice cream was distributed to retailers in 17 states across the country beginning May 4.

How To Identify the Recalled Ice Cream

The recalled Straus Family Creamery Organic Super Premium Ice Cream was packaged in paper packaging with a seal and lid, in both quart and pint sizes. It was distributed to 17 states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin.

Not all Straus ice cream is impacted by this recall. The voluntary recall includes only these production runs, which can be identified by the "best by" date, flavor, and size:
