Did Trump say, 'Nobody knows God better than me'? Don't be fooled

Social media users shared a screenshot allegedly showing that President Donald Trump posted the quote on Truth Social.

Claim:

A screenshot circulating online in mid-May 2026 authentically shows a Truth Social post by President Donald Trump saying, "Nobody knows God better than me. And NOBODY is loved more by God than me!"

Originated as Satire (About this rating?)

In May 2026, a screenshot circulated online purportedly showing a Truth Social post by President Donald Trump that read, "Nobody knows God better than me. And NOBODY is loved more by God than me!"

For example, one X user claimed the image showed an "actual social media post" by Trump, adding "nurse!!" to imply the president needed urgent medical help for saying this (archived).

Reddit, Facebook and Instagram users, some of whom seemed to believe that Trump said God loved him the most, also shared the alleged screengrab. Snopes readers contacted us to investigate the post's legitimacy.

The rumor spread after a May 17 prayer rally in Washington D.C. celebrating the 250th anniversary of the foundation of the United States.

Searching Trump's archived Truth Social posts uncovered no such post, nor did searches of DuckDuckGo, Google and Yahoo. If the president had really said he knew God better than anyone else, journalists with reputable news outlets, such as The Associated Press or Reuters, would have widely reported on it, and those search inquiries would have uncovered such evidence. That was not the case.

The format of the screenshot does not match the look of a typical Truth Social post. For example, the font is different and it does not include a time marker, making the post look even more suspicious.

Instead, the screenshot originated from an X account called @AmericanEthical. That user posted the image on May 17, before other social media users shared it. The caption includes a hashtag that reads "#satire" (archived).

We contacted the account for its response to some people believing the post is authentic. We will update this article if we receive a reply.

Snopes has debunked several fake posts attributed to Trump. For example, in November 2025, we alerted readers to a fabricated post falsely claiming Trump said, "14 is old enough to make your own decisions."

Since satire is subjective, we use "originated as satire" or "labeled satire" ratings based on creators' description of their work. You decide if you agree.
