Meet '60s star Elizabeth Montgomery's 3 children - including 2 who followed her into showbiz

Rising to fame on the American sitcom Bewitched, Elizabeth Montgomery welcomed three children, Rebecca, Bill and Robert, with her third husband, the series' producer William Asher.

Bewitched star Elizabeth Montgomery was an American powerhouse whose career stretched across five decades in film, stage and television.

Before her untimely death in 1995, when she was just 62 years old, the star shot to fame as the good witch Samantha Stephens on the beloved TV fantasy sitcom and earned herself five Primetime Emmy Award nominations and four Golden Globe Award nominations.

On 18 May in the mid-1990s, Elizabeth died from metastatic colorectal cancer and left behind her fourth husband, Robert Foxworth, and her three children, Rebecca Asher, Robert Asher, and Bill Asher, from her marriage to Bewitched producer and director, William Asher.

The actress was married four times: first to New York City socialite Frederick Gallatin Cammann in 1954, then to Academy Award-winning actor Gig Young from 1956 to 1963, to the father of her children, William, until 1973, and finally to Robert, whom she wed in 1993.

Let's meet the three children she was survived by, two of whom are showbiz names in their own right…

Rebecca Asher

Born on 17 June 1969 in Los Angeles, California, Rebecca is a director and editor, most known for her work on 2001's Donnie Darko, the 2007 comedy Knocked Up, starring Seth Rogen and Katherine Heigl, and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy with Will Ferrell.

Reportedly named after Elizabeth's grandma, Becca, the 56-year-old is the only daughter of the star and was the couple's last child together.

She keeps her private life offline, and little is known about her relationship status; however, she most recently worked on Channel 4's Big Mood with Nicola Coughlan.

Robert Asher

Elizabeth and William welcomed Robert on 5 October 1965, making him their second eldest child.

Like his younger sister, he followed in his parents' famous footsteps and entered the entertainment industry as an editor and a producer, most known for his contributions to Instant Dream Home in 2022.

Now 60 years old, he grew up during the production of Bewitched, and his birth during the second season of the show famously influenced his mother's character’s storyline.

Information about his home life, whether he is married or a father, is not publicly known, much like Rebecca.

Bill Asher

Bill, or more widely known as William Jr, was born on 24 July 1964 and was the first son of the director and actress pairing.

Veering away from the world of television and film, Bill, now 61, chose a career in music instead and owns Asher Guitars & Lap Steels, crafting instruments for musicians such as Ben Harper and Jackson Browne.

Despite leaving his parents' world behind, he did spend a short time in entertainment, working on the television production of The Young and the Restless, and a 2023 documentary about his mother.
