Los Angeles Dodgers star closer Edwin Diaz has been dealing with a knee issue. It seems as if the injury is not serious, though, as Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic revealed a big update before Wednesday’s game.

“Dave Roberts said Edwin Díaz is available to pitch tonight,” Ardaya wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

The Dodgers are looking to sweep the New York Mets on Wednesday night after winning the first two games of the series in Los Angeles. If LA has a lead in the ninth inning, Diaz may have an opportunity to shut the door against his former team.

Losing Diaz to the Dodgers was far from ideal for the Mets. Diaz is one of the better relievers in all of baseball. LA needed bullpen help, so they signed Diaz to a $69 million contract this past offseason.

Diaz has struggled to begin his Dodgers career. He has a 6.00 ERA across six outings. Nevertheless, the veteran has recorded four saves. He is still making a big impact despite his lackluster ERA. Diaz will surely get back on track sooner rather than later.

The Dodgers are set to enter Wednesday night’s contest with a 13-4 overall record. They are in first place in the National League West. Meanwhile, the Mets are 7-11 and in last place in the National League East.

New York will try to find a way to upset Los Angeles, but that is much easier said than done without question. First pitch for the game is scheduled for 10:10 PM EST.
