"Seriously what the f---?" Eric Kripke posted to social media.
The creator of Prime Video's satirical superhero series The Boys seems sincerely stunned by the show's prescience.
"Seriously what the f---?" Eric Kripke posted Saturday on Instagram over a split image of the golden statue of himself that Donald Trump erected on the grounds of his Trump National Doral Miami golf course and The Boys' golden Homelander statue.
Season 5, episode 6, "Though the Heavens Fall," unveils a larger-than-life golden Homelander statue. The psychotic leader of the Seven proclaims that he is the new messiah following his visitation by "angel" Madelyn Stillwell in an episode 3 vision that aired April 15. Not only is the statue a foreshadowing of real-world events, but even Homelander's God-complex eerily predicted the president's "AI Jesus" controversy that erupted April 12. (Kripke paid tribute to The Boys season 5 wrapping filming on Instagram in July 2025.)
Trump's statue, dubbed "Don Colossus" for its 15-foot height — 22 feet total including its pedestal — was created by Ohio sculptor Alan Cottrill and commissioned by cryptocurrency group $PATRIOT, per USA Today. The statue is made of bronze overlaid with gold leaf and weighs 3.1 tons. Its pedestal adds another 7,000 pounds.
The statue has caused controversy online, as a religious debate broke out after Pastor Mark Burns led a prayer dedication service over the statue, which some have compared to the biblical story of the golden calf.
"We worship the Lord Jesus Christ and Him alone," Burns wrote on social media in reply to the controversy. "Honor is not worship. Respect is not idolatry. Celebration is not bowing down to a false god."
Critics responded to Burns' post with Bible verses and promises of eternal damnation: "When a man compares himself to Jesus and erects golden statues of himself, perhaps you can understand why Americans might see idolatry."

The Boys' storyline also presented opposition to the rebranded "Democratic Church of America" and its leadership, which causes a crisis of conscience for nationalist Christians like Firecracker, whose own beloved hometown pastor resists the government's forced conversion of traditional churches to worship Homelander as a holy figure.
In another Boys plot point that mirrors real life, Vice President Ashley Barrett threatens in episode 5 to force the FCC to pull the broadcast licenses for every network except Vought's own VNN. The statement could be considered a foreshadowing of the Trump administration's threats against ABC following the latest tiff between late-night host Jimmy Kimmel and the president.
