LeBron James reacts to historic pass to Bronny James in win over Rockets

The Lakers father-and-son duo of LeBron James and Bronny James made NBA history again, this time in a playoff game.

Los Angeles Lakers stars LeBron James and Bronny James linked up for another memorable and historic moment: the first father-and-son duo to play for the same team in the same game at the same time.

With several key players sidelined by big injuries during the postseason, Bronny has seen some minutes off the bench in a reserve role. And more than a few times, he’s taken the court at the same time as his father, King James, including last night’s Game 3 in Houston.

In the second quarter, fans witnessed another highlight-reel moment featuring father-to-son, as LeBron secured a rebound on a Rockets’ missed layup, then dribbled up the court. With his son making a backdoor cut to the basket, LeBron tossed up a sweet alley-oop, allowing Bronny to deliver an underhanded layup from under the basket.

That gave the Lakers a larger lead and wowed the crowd in Houston. It also became the first-ever father-to-son assist in an NBA Playoffs game, as the duo continues to make some incredible league history.

“There’s like mini moments that happen throughout the course of the game. In a postseason game,” LeBron explained to reporters after the game. “I’m always like super locked in, and over the last three games, there’s been mini moments where I kinda locked out, if that makes sense, and all those moments have been with Bronny.”

“It just keeps getting better and better. It’s like wild,” he said of these moments, also praising Bronny for the work he’s put in to build his confidence in games.

“The amount of confidence that a young kid in our league can get from a postseason game- [for] a regular-season game, you would never get nervous from a moment ever again when you play meaningful postseason games and postseason minutes,” he said, adding, “And he’s done that, and I think that’s pretty cool.”

LeBron finished the game with a team-leading 29 points, along with 13 rebounds and six assists. Teammate Marcus Smart also stepped up big with 21 points, 10 assists, and four rebounds, as the Lakers hope to get Austin Reaves back soon.

And along with that highlight play featuring LeBron and Bronny, Los Angeles is now up 3-0. However, they needed a clutch three-pointer from LeBron late in the fourth quarter to force overtime, and then won 112-108 in the extra session.

With Kevin Durant out again for the Rockets, the home team needed big performances from other stars, and they got them, including Alpren Sengun and Amen Thompson, who had more than half of their team’s points. However, they couldn’t stop the Lakers, who are now on the verge of sweeping them without Reaves or Luka Doncic in their lineup.
